Thrift Shop: Now Open From 9 a.m. - Noon on Wednesdays

Our Thrift Shop Ministry is a vital part of Parish Social Ministry at St. John’s. Open to the public on Wednesdays, the men and women who offer their time and talent provide clothing and items for those in need as well as having many wonderful items that everyone can enjoy. Be sure to visit them on Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

Our parish, overall, and our parish social ministry, specifically, are here to serve you in any way we can. If you are in need, please reach out to us at St. John’s. A great place to start is the Outreach Office and its amazing volunteer ministers. Our Outreach Office is located in the Red Barn. Please call to make an appointment so we can connect you to our services here at SJE or link you to other services. NEVER BE EMBARRASSED to reach out. We may not be able to address every need. If we can’t, we’ll try to connect to someone who can assist you. Please always reach out to us here at SJE!

Please respect the incredible work of our dedicated volunteers. Look what we found this weekend at SJE. Our volunteers needed to move and destroy these things as they were left out in the rain. We needed to schedule an additional dumpster pick up which is a cost to the parish. Good items that could be used were destroyed. Our Thrift Shop Ministry accepts the following items - generally those that fit in the green bins - including: clothes, coats, pocketbooks, shoes, blankets, sheets, toys, dishes, silverware, glasses, small appliances in working condition. We do not take large furniture, used mattresses (seriously?!), undergarments, large appliances (like that freezer someone left) and the like. If you're not sure if we take something, don't leave it. Call the Parish Social Ministry Office for more information.

Members of the community are very generous to the outreach work of St. John the Evangelist. At the same time, we’ve been having a problem with garbage and things left outside. Not only does it make the efforts of all who help to keep our grounds cleaned up look poor, bur we will not offer items that have been thrown around, left outside, or not cared for to those in need. They deserve our best not our leftovers or garbage. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING OUTSIDE OF THE THRIFT SHOP. Place it in the bins or drop it off on Monday or Wednesday mornings! Thank you for your help and support.

Inspired by our patron, St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Center Moriches seeks to bring the light of Christ to a world in need, so that as Christ has done, we may also do.
From the celebration of the Eucharist, we are sent forth to serve God and neighbor through ministries of formation, education and outreach.
