Parish Social Ministry
Let The Parish Social Ministry Help You
Our parish, overall, and our Parish Social Ministry, specifically, are here to serve you in any way we can. If you are in need, please reach out to us at St. John’s. A great place to start is the P.S.M. Office coordinated by Katie Spellman and our amazing volunteer ministers. Our P.S.M office is located in 'the Barn'. Please call to make an appointment so we can connect you to our services here at SJE or link you to other services. NEVER BE EMBARRASSED to reach out. We may not be able to address every need. If we can’t, we’ll try to connect to someone who can assist you. Please always reach out to us here at SJE!
Ernie's Place Food Pantry
Ernie’s Place (Food Pantry): Monday 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. and Thursdays 3 p.m. - 4 p.m. It is our hope to open Ernie’s Place at our regular times soon. We are in need of pasta sauce, canned tomatoes and canned vegetables. Donations to the Food Pantry can be left at the doors of auditorium in the wicker baskets. Thank you for your continued generosity.
We are consistently in need of donations. These donations can be left in the lobby of Seton Chapel and the main entrance of the Church. Financial donations are most welcome as they allow us to purchase items as they are needed. Checks may be made payable to St. John the Evangelist and donations can be left in the Parish Office. We would also be most grateful for gift cards to places such as the Dollar Store or Walmart so we can obtain these items. Donations may be dropped off to the Parish Office (Blue House) during normal business hours or Parish Social Ministry Office (Red Barn) Monday - Thursday from 10 a.m. - noon or 1 - 3 p.m.
Our Thrift Shop ministry is a vital part of Parish Social Ministry at St. John’s. Normally (before the COVID outbreak) we were open to the public on Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to noon. We are closed now until firther notice. The men and women who offer their time and talent provide clothing and items for those in need as well as having many wonderful items that everyone can enjoy.
In an effort to better serve the members of our local community who are uncertain or unable to go out to shopping for basic essentials (food, pharmacy, etc.), SJE's Parish Social Ministry has a crew of volunteers ready to assist with shopping. All you need to do is click this link. Parishioners and friends who are customers at Ernie’s Place and those who are not are eligible for this service. If you are able to help by shopping for others, please email Fr. John at email@example.com.
Parish Social Ministry memorial cards are now available. This is one way to honor one who has passed away. These cards allow you to express your sympathy while also benefiting the less fortunate in our local community. Each month we will celebrate mass for all those remembered via the memorial cards. The names of those remembered will be periodically included in the bulletin. The memorial offering made will benefit Parish Social Ministry (P.S.M.), our homeless initiative, food pantry and thrift shop and the many works of Parish Social Ministry at SJE. To obtain a parish social ministry memorial card, visit the rectory office during regular hours or visit the P.S.M. from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
